Happy first day of Daylight Savings to our friends back in the States. We are now officially one hour closer to you every day. I have to say, despite the huge distance between Cincinnati and Santiago, being on nearly the same time zone makes communication so much easier. Day Trip – Zapallar and Cachagua
I still can’t quite get used to the fact that, from our apartment, I can drive an hour in either direction and be either in the Andes mountains or on the Pacific coast. Our last venture into the mountains was a success, and we definitely want to spend more time exploring the many trekking paths in and around Santiago, but with Summer winding down here in the Southern hemisphere, we decided to head for the beach this Saturday. Day Hike – Monumento Natural El Morado
We’re just shy of 3 weeks living here in Santiago, and this Saturday we decided it was time to venture out of the valley and into the Andes. There are many reasons we were drawn to the opportunity to live and work here in Santiago, but high on the list was accessibility to some incredible hiking. Matt and I share a love of the outdoors, and while a trail up a mountain can be physically exhausting, there are few things I find more mentally relaxing. Santiago: Week One Recap – Moving, Exploring and House Hunting!
Hola a todos! Wow! So much has happened in such a short amount of time. It’s hard to believe we’ve been here less than a week a this point. We spent last weekend at my parents house, and got a great send off from my grandma and aunts before my parents dropped us at the airport Monday evening. Leaving behind friends and family is definitely the hardest part of this move. I had to blink back a few tears as we turned the corner in the security line and gave my parents one last wave. A Few Of My Favorite Things… The Best Places to Eat & Drink in Cincinnati
As the countdown to our final day in Cincinnati continues, I can’t help but reflect on some of the things I’m going to miss most about living here. There are the people, of course, who I will miss first and foremost, but beyond that there are so many places that have become part of my day to day life here.

One Way Ticket
Santiago here we come! After spending most of the last year exploring the possibility of moving abroad, things are really starting to get real. Today marks 30 days until we board a plane and head 5000 miles south to Santiago, Chile, the city we’ll call home for the next 2 years. Continue reading “One Way Ticket”
Wake Up With Yoga – Start Your Morning With These 6 Poses
Disclaimer: I am NOT a morning person. It’s not so much that I can’t get myself out of bed in the morning, it’s just that I really don’t like it. But lately, I’ve been trying to ease myself into getting up earlier, so I can have some quiet time to myself before my day begins. It’s amazing what a difference it makes to my stress levels throughout the day, when I have some time to focus on me before immediately diving into the pile of emails that have made their way into my inbox overnight. Whole Wheat Apple Cider Pancakes
It’s International Pancake Day and you better believe I’m celebrating!
I love breakfast. I hear about those people who “forget” to eat breakfast, or who have to make themselves eat something before heading out the door in the morning. I am not one of those people. Continue reading “Whole Wheat Apple Cider Pancakes”
Lenten Reflections: 40 Ways to Make the Most of the Season
The Lenten season is nearly upon us. For many of us, that means spending time thinking about what we’re going to “give up” for the next 40 days. This year, though, I am trying to shift my focus away from what I want to give up and instead focus on what I want to get out of Lent. Continue reading “Lenten Reflections: 40 Ways to Make the Most of the Season”
Honey Almond No Bake Granola Bars
If you’re anything like me, you probably ate way too many delicious munchies during the Super Bowl last night. Somehow, I managed to sit within arms reach of a tub full of homemade pretzel bites, and I couldn’t resist taking a few passes at the Dunk-a-roo dip I brought along. But, never fear! One night of snacking need not derail your entire week, so let Monday be a fresh start. Continue reading “Honey Almond No Bake Granola Bars”
